The following
ideas will provide you with a brief
look at some of the information
that you'll
need to change both
your life and your world.
Myth
1 |
Humans
act instinctively.
The source of this
myth is that animals have instincts. |
Truth |
Animals do have
instincts. Actions are programmed
responses over which the animal has
no choice. Humans do not have
instincts. Humans learn what
actions to take and, if they so choose,
they can change their learned actions. |
|
Myth
2 |
Humans
are just animals with big brains.
The assumption
is that the intelligence of our big brains
can and should dominate our otherwise
inferior, animal natures. |
Truth |
Human
beings are born without the limitations
of instincts and are free to manifest
an infinite potential. |
|
Myth
3 |
Some
people are born superior to other people.
This assumption
originates from a man-made social order
that is a hierarchy: "Some people
are born to be leaders and some to be
followers." |
Truth |
All
human beings are born with equal power
of choice. |
|
Myth
4 |
Survival
is the purpose of life.
This is true for
the species, but for individuals, it
is a myth. |
Truth |
Survival
is a relevant goal of childhood. Adults
don't survive adulthood. The task of
childhood is survival. The task of
adulthood is transformation. |
|
Myth
5 |
Some
emotions are positive and some are
negative.
Negative emotions
may lead you to do things that you don't
want to see yourself as doing — "I
don't like to yell, but I was angry!" Positive
emotions make you feel good. |
Truth |
Emotions
are simply energy in the body providing
information. The mind judges
and labels the energy as positive or
negative. |
