The Embodied One There was never a time when you and I and all Others were not; and neither will there be a time when we shall all cease to be. All of us exist from this time forward. Just as the body passes through childhood, adulthood and old age, we acquire other bodies when the old ones are worn out. In the same way that you cast aside worn out clothes for new ones, the Embodied One casts away worn out bodies for new ones. The body, which is inhabited by the eternal, indestructible, immeasurable Embodied One, is said to come to an end. Its duration is meant to be used for the pursuit of seeking Me. One who thinks the Embodied One causes the destruction of another, or that the Embodied One can be destroyed, has not understood. The Embodied One is neither born or does it die. It’s existence is Real. It does not come into, or out of, existence. It is birthless, perpetual, eternal. It is not destroyed when the body is destroyed. The Embodied One is indestructible, birthless and imperishable. There can be no harming of another by it, nor can there be any harming of it by another. The Embodied One is eternally inviolable in the body of all.
The Being Even if you believe the Embodied One to be the same as that which can be born or die, sorrow is inappropriate, for anything that can be born, can die, and anything that can die can be born. This is inevitable. That which can come to be or not to be, can be born or die, is the Being. Beings come into beingness from the unmanifest, are for a time in a manifest state, and end by returning to the unmanifest again. One who perceives this marvel may tell another, but even though the other hears it, he cannot know it by simply hearing about it. Those who truly understand this are said to have attained Wisdom. Those who attain Wisdom, perform Yoga through which they are freed from the bondage of rebirth, and go the Way of Eternal Happiness, free of suffering. |
